Ladner House

This is a Victorian home built in 1899 for William Booth Skinner. Skinner had a boot and shoe store on Westminster Avenue, now Main Street.
According to the Plan of the City of Vancouver, British Columbia, which was compiled by H.B. Smith in 1886, Westminster Avenue ran from Alexander Street in Gastown into South Vancouver. The name Westminster Avenue more than likely came because it met up with the New Westminster Road (now called Kingsway) at Broadway. The Westminster name heralds back to the colonial seat of power in Westminster, England.

Skinner was a pioneer of Ladner, BC and his two sisters married the two Ladner brothers that founded the community. A huge copper beach tree in front of the house and there is a matching tree along Arthur Drive in Ladner near the Ladner's home.Imported from Belgium, these trees are beautiful and majestic.

Built in 1909, this building's resident in 1913 was William B. Hunter Drugs.

It is located at 1003 Commercial Drive.

I hope you find the beauty around you.
