Dan Miller

This is going to be a short entry because I can't find a lot of information on premier #32, Arthur Daniel Miller. Perhaps that is because he served as an interim premier after Glen Clark resigned and his term was less than a year.

The man we have come to know as Dan Miller was born on December 24, 1944. He was first elected to the British Columbia Legislature in the 1986 election and served in the cabinets of both Premiers Mike Harcourt and Glen Clark. Miller held a variety of ministries including Minister of Forests and Minister for Energy and Mines. In 1992, Dan Miller was named deputy premier.

Miller was a moderate and uncontroversial politician. When Glen Clark resigned, an emergency meeting of the provincial caucus was held and Dan was named interim leader of the NDP party.

Dan Miller served as premier for six months until Ujjal Dosanjh was elected party leader and took over as premier on February 24, 2000. Miller did not seek re-election in 2001.

This home is at 2129 Gravely Street. It is a well-maintained Edwardian style. I got this information from the Grandview Heritage Group when they were featuring houses that turned 100 this year. So it was built in 1912 or 1913.

In 2003, Miller supported Bill Blaikie's bid to become leader of the federal NDP party.

In early 2005, the BC government hired the former premier as an advisor for the province's offshore and gas development team. Miller had worked for a major pipeline company and a forest company since leaving office.
Thanks to Wikipedia for the above information on Dan Miller and the Grandview Heritage Blog for the information on the house.

I hope you find the beauty around you.
